The Annex is a heady mixture of homes, shops and food. The median price for a condo is cuurently $424,000; for a detached house, $667,000; both have tops in excess of $2 million. Properties are now selling within 30 days and for 100% of asking, a boom perhaps fuelled by tenured salaries of university (Toronto) and college (George Brown) staff who favour the area . Retail therapy is readily available at "Honest Ed's" bargain emporium or Holt Renfrew fashions; and food ranges from the fast to the studied, with prices to match.

The prime Annex is located north of Bloor Street and south of the railway line at Dupont, between Avenue Road on the east and Christie Street on the west.  Most houses close to Avenue Road are century-old detached or semi-detached Victorian style brownstones, with four to six bedrooms, whereas the homes in Seaton Village, between Bathurst and Christie are smaller therefore more affordable.  With the dynamic Bloor Street scene, heritage properties, proximity to downtown and leafy streets this neighbourhood appeals to a broad range of homeowners.
